Originally planned to be a one-time tribute to Louis Armstrong on his 100th birthday in 2001, the Satchmo Summer Fest was so successful that organizers decided to make it an annual event.
This year the festival takes place Aug. 3-5 and is held at the Old U.S. Mint, located on the edge of the French Quarter between the French Market and Esplanade Avenue.
There will be plenty of music at the festival as always. Festival-goers can also sign up for seminars and lectures and attend smaller concerts inside the Old Mint. Plenty of food vendors will also be on hand.
